Call for Training Concepts: Upskilling Higher Education Management through Targeted Trainings

Vietnam’s higher education sector is undergoing far-reaching transformation, creating a growing need for professional development in university management. At the same time, many DIES alumni and other higher education professionals already possess valuable thematic and methodological expertise. This initiative aims to bring these resources together and support the development of training formats that respond to the needs of Vietnamese higher education institutions.

Up to ten selected teams will be invited to a two-day peer-learning workshop in Hanoi in November 2026. During the workshop, participants will further develop their initial ideas through peer consultation, mentoring, expert feedback and dedicated working sessions. They will leave the workshop with new insights, concrete feedback and clearer next steps for finalising their concepts and preparing them for possible implementation from 2027 onwards.

Who can apply?

Applications must be submitted by teams. Each team must designate one lead applicant who is an alumna or alumnus of at least one of DAAD-DIES Training Courses (IDC, UNILEAD, MoI, TrainIQA, LEADx and ProGRANT). Other team members may include DIES alumni or colleagues from Vietnamese higher education institutions and related organisations.

The initial concept should briefly describe the identified training need, target group, intended learning objectives and possible content. Proposed formats should be practice-oriented and interactive and, where appropriate, enable participants to develop a small practical result during the training.

Support provided by DAAD Vietnam

DAAD Vietnam will organise a peer-learning workshop and facilitate exchange with suitable mentors, trainers and experts. For selected participants, we will cover the costs of travel, accommodation for the workshop and meals during the event. Please note that selection under this call covers participation in the peer-learning workshop and support for the further development of the proposed concept. It does not constitute a commitment by DAAD to fund, commission or organise the subsequent implementation of the training.
