Research Cooperation with Germany – Call for Proposals to organise research forums

© DAAD Vietnam
Vietnam is strengthening its position as a regional hub for science, innovation, and higher education, making international research cooperation more important than ever.

As part of our ongoing efforts to strengthen long-term academic cooperation between Vietnam and Germany, and to enhance the visibility of Vietnamese-German research collaboration, the DAAD Regional Office in Hanoi invites proposals to organise research forums on a topic of shared relevance to both countries.

Up to three Vietnamese higher education institutions will have the opportunity to receive DAAD funding to organise an international research forum of up to one day on a topic of their choice. The forums are intended to provide a platform for academic exchange, showcase current research developments, and foster dialogue among researchers, scholars, and other stakeholders from Vietnam and Germany.

Each event is expected to include:

  1. Research-based exchange and academic discussion as the core component of the event on the selected topic. This may take the form of expert talks, lectures, panel discussions, workshops, or other interactive formats that encourage academic dialogue and knowledge sharing.
  2. Sessions facilitated by DAAD on the topics of Germany as a distinguished research destination, available funding opportunities for international research, and various networking possibilities.

Key requirements

The proposed research forum should:

  • take place no later than 20 November 2026
  • host at least 30 guests, focusing on graduates, PhDs, researchers, and university leaders from Vietnamese universities and scientific academies
  • last at least half a day and no more than one full day
  • feature experts and research inputs from the hosting institution and its networks
  • feature at least one speaker on-site affiliated with a German higher education or research institution. International online participation is not limited.
  • encourage active exchange between speakers and participants

Funding scope:

A maximum of 1500 EUR per event, excluding travel costs and accommodation for one German-based speaker, which are covered directly by the DAAD Regional Office in Hanoi.

Proposal submission deadline:

20 July 2026 (send to p.mai@daad.de – Ms Mai)

Please find the Call for Proposals attached for detailed information on eligibility, funding, and application procedures.
